Cadbury Marvellous Creations Fridge Tray Bake

I have loved the new Marvellous Creations range by Cadbury and while I was making the maltesers fridge tray bake the other day I had an idea. Why not using the marvellous creation bar as the milk chocolate as it would bring all the extra sweets with it. This what I created and it was awesome!

Ingredients

100g unsalted butter
3 tablespoons golden syrup
200g popping candy marvellous creations bar
300g digestives
120g maltesers
300g white chocolate
1 teaspoon of popping candy (optional as the popping candy in the chocolate will dissolve when you melted so this adds some more)

Method
Place the butter, golden syrup and chocolate in a saucepan and melt together on a gentle heat, keep stirring. Take it off the heat when it’s all melted together.

Crush the digestives to crumbs and add to the melted chocolate mixture. (I use a rolling pin and hit the biscuits while they are in a bag to make the crumbs.)

Once throughly mixed add the maltesers and popping candy.

Line a small baking tray with greaseproof paper.

Put the mixture into the pan and press in firmly to compact the mix.

Melt the white chocolate in a bowl over hot water. When it has melted pour the chocolate over the maltesers mix. Put in the fridge for until set – after 1 hour cut into slices and return to the fridge. It’s easier to cut when it’s still setting.

White chocolate on – if you move it around too much when trying to spread it you can pick up a few crumbs of digestives which makes the little lumps you see here.

40mins in the fridge and I sliced it up before it all became rock hard.

Childhood Baking Dreams

When I was little I loved costume dramas on TV and in movies. Whenever I was taken on school trips or family trips I always spent ages in the kitchens of old houses captivated by these baking goodies.

Even as a little girl at about 6 years old I loved Victorian kitchens and fell in love with copper pans. So shiny! I knew one day I would own one (hopefully more than one).

I was out shopping and I found this glorious copper cake tin. It was only £14.99 and unused! I really don’t know how to use it in comparison to contemporary cake tins but I am so looking forward to trying it.

I’m going to test it out with a bundt recipe from Dolly Bakes. http://www.dollybakes.co.uk/

I am so excited and I’m now on the look out for more copper cake tins.
I feel like this might turn into an addiction!

If you could recommend a recipe to try I would be so grateful! x

Also does anyone know how to keep the copper so shiny?

Making Bagels – no more shop bought for me!

Bagels

I was honestly the most surprised I have ever been when baking these bagels. I was hopeful they would work but was so surprised how they were just so easy and tasted so great. They even tasted wonderful toasted 4 days later.

Ingredients

450g strong white flour,
1tsp yeast,
half a teaspoon of salt
20g caster sugar,
40g sunflower oil,
230ml tepid water.

Mix all together and knead for 10mins.
Leave in an oiled bowl for 1 hour.
Knead and divide into 8.
Roll into a small ball and using a handle of wooden spoon make the hole. Spin the dough round the handle or your finger to make the hole larger. As the dough rise the hole will close if it’s not big enough.
Repeat with the rest of the dough.
Put on a baking sheet and leave for 30mins.

Heat the oven to 180 degrees for fan, 200 degrees oven.
Bring a large pan of water to the boil and add 1tsp of malt extract (or baking soda if you don’t have malt extract).
Simmer the water and dunk the doughnuts for 2 minutes (1 minute on each side). I found putting the top nice side of the bagel down in the water first works well.
Remove carefully and drain them on a tea towel. Leave them for 1-2 minutes on the tea towel any longer and they will stick and it’s really hard to get them off without them deflating slightly.
Move the bagels to a baking sheet and brush with a beaten egg.
Bake for 15-20mins until golden brown.

Enjoy!

The hole in the middle needed to be a bit larger than I thought but as it grew it closed up.

Glitter Nail Varnishes

Sparkling weekend nails for the bank holiday. My friend and I went shopping and I saw these brand new Color Show by Maybelline nail varnishes. I love these! They are a nice colour and with tiny bits of white and black confetti glitter type pieces. The nail varnish was also very affordable – £2.99!

Colour Show glitter Maybelline

There are 4 colours – green, pink, blue and a clear with black and white glitter. It looks great over any colour.

Green was nice and a bit of a camouflage style.

Pink looked nice.
